Pol Bury kinetic art in Brussels North business district, scultpure with cylinders and spheres in public space
(Browse the collection : Brussels City and Region time lapse and video stock)
Near the place Rogier, at the entrance of the Boulevard du Roi Albert II, is displayed a magnificent fountain ensemble designed by Pol Bury. This belgian painter and sculptor is one of the most famous artists in the contemporary world. His fascination for Alexander Calder made him incorporate motion in his work. Each cylinder is actually a fountain of 2 to 3 meters high topped with a polished sphere that reflects and projects by bending the vertical forms of the futuristic setting of surrounding buildings. A waterfall completes the device. The rounded lines of wells are run by swinging spheres, caused by the weight of water.
