Belgium has only 70 km of coast on the North Sea, but the Belgians haven’t underestimated its value. Real estate plays big here, and many well-to-do Belgians have a second house or an apartment somewhere near one of the Belgium’s fine whitesand beaches. One peculiarity of the Belgian coast is the abundance of tall apartment buildings, especially in places like De Panne, Ostend and Blankenberg.

The coast’s 65 kilometre long stretch of sandy coastline has 15 resorts, each with its own character and unique atmosphere. The sandy beaches are ideal for children. The beaches shelve gently out to sea, and life guards ensure everyone’s safety. Sunbathers have found that they acquire a healthier tan here than in southern Europe, thanks to the iodine and salt in the air.
(Belgium)
After a period of stasis, Belgium’s seaside region is fast regaining popularity among local, French and Dutch tourists as an ‘it’ destination. The 65km-long coastline is fronted by wide white-sand beaches, backed by dunes and dotted every few kilometres with resort towns.
