Relaxing nature shot with reed plants, Lommel Sahara reserve hidden gem in Limburg province
(Browse the collection : Limburg province video shots and time lapse stock footage)
The sand-filled landscape of the Sahara Lommel desert may be in Belgium, but walking through its breathtaking scenery will feel just like visiting the famous african desert. Explore this natural environment on foot and enjoy the feeling of sand under your feet with stunning sights of clear blue lakes.
Today the Sahara of Lommel has become the ideal place to have a beach and holiday atmosphere and to enjoy the sun.
A clear blue lake adds to the wonder, although the stunning effect of the Lommel ‘Sahara’ didn’t come about naturally. The strange landscape actually owes its existence to the pollution of a former zinc plant that dried up the grounds. To prevent the expansion of the sandy plains, pine forests were planted here a long time ago.
