Charles of Lorraine was the governor of the Austrian Netherlands from 1744 to 1780. He was an avid art and science enthusiast and collector. His palace, the construction of which started in 1757, later housed the Royal Library’s reading rooms and is now used for events and exhibitions.

No matter how flat it might appear at first, and it is definitely not the highest EU capital, there are still viewpoints you can easily access by walking around the city.
It has extremely modern neighbourhoods that contrast with its renowned Art Deco buildings, and the streets of Brussels are packed with charm and history and make for a great getaway.
