I’m glad that Bruges was the first city I visited in Belgium as I always thought Belgium was a boring little country. Bruges definitely opened my eyes, fell in love with the beauty of the charming city. And luckily I was there when the chocolate festival was on, made it even more special. Belgium is definitely charming in it’s own way.
Bruges is one of our favorite small European cities and it’s the most touristic city in Belgium. With its medieval architecture, small houses, canals, gorgeous palaces and chapels, this small city makes such a romantic destination.
The centre of Bruges was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. A guided tour through the unique historic centre is an absolute must. Among the winding alleys and romantic canals, you will imagine yourself to be back in the Middle Ages. From the marketplace to the belfry to the Béguinage and the Minnewater… Bruges is a place you simply have to see.
