Cobbelstone streets, belfry tower, gabled houses : the charm of a worth visiting,or just walking, historic preserved town with outstanding architecture
(Browse the collection : Bruges cityscape time lapse and video stock footage)
Bourgeois, enchanting and atmospheric, Bruges is a mish-mash of medieval streets, criss-crossed canals and medieval Gothic architecture. Swans glide down the winding canals and stone houses look like they’re made of gingerbread. Indeed, the impossibly charming 13th-century core bursts with history, culture, markets and chocolate shops. It’s no wonder UNESCO awarded the moated center a World Heritage status. Perhaps the most astonishing thing about Bruges is how consistently friendly residents are to the swarms of visitors.

In reality, the charming capital of West Flanders in northwestern Belgium is indeed tranquil, with swans gliding along medieval canals and cobblestone lanes dotted with lace shops and quiet cafes. But Bruges now has much more to offer.
Bruges, or Brugge in Dutch, is almost a perfect medieval fairytale town in Belgium. The cobbled lanes and canals linking the market squares are so picture perfect that you may find it difficult to put your camera away and absorb the beauty for yourself. The city is also an architecture lover’s dream, even by European standards and the Gothic and Baroque buildings are truly jaw-dropping.
