Brussels video stock footage, time lapse of Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert : shopping arcade, history, style and origami artwork
(Browse the collection : Brussels City and Region time lapse and video stock footage)
In the heart of Brussels the Royal Gallery shopping arcade is a gem of architecture. At the end of 2020 the glass roof was decorated with origami art work. Origami For Life was an initiative lead by artist Charles Kaisin to help raising funds for covid 19 special care unit of Hospital Erasme. This elegant and prestigious complex, architecturally inspired by the Italian Palaces of the 19th century, is covered across its entire length by a glass roof with a metal sheltering visitors whatever the climate.
The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert were designed in 1847 making them the first glazed shopping arcade in Europe, and today they are still among the most impressive and elegant.
The Royal Galleries Saint-Hubert are in elegant Italianate style of pilaster columns and a cast iron framework roof of arched glass panes.
